I recently recorded drum tracks on singer/songwriter Karen Thurber's debut release. Here I am pictured with Karen, producer/engineer Robinson Eikenberry and engineer Tom Flowers. I had a great time working with these guys, they made it so easy and I just loved the drum sounds they got. Tracks were recorded at Orange Whip Studios in Santa Barbara (Jan. 2005). Robinson setting up mics before the session. Robinson and Tom listening to a take. My DW drums used on the session with the Paiste Dark Energy series cymbals. This was taken at Sound Design Studios in Santa Barbara while doing a session for flautist Rebecca Kleinmann's debut CD (Nov. 2004). Engineer and owner of Sound Design, Dom Camardella. This man knows how to get great drum sounds and his studio is just wonderful. The Paiste Traditonal line of cymbals used on the session. The flat ride on the far right is a dream cymbal that sounds like buttah! Pianist Mitchell Yoshida. A great guy and an incredible talent at just 21 years of age. I think you will be hearing more from this guy in the years to come. Randy Tico and Mitchell running over some things. Flautist Rebecca Kleinmann. Tabla master Hom Nath layed down a track on one of Rebecca's songs for the album. Hom, Randy, Mitchell and Rebecca listening back to a take. This was for singer Shawn Thies' new Christmas CD (Oct 2004). Keyboardist Chris Smith making some notes on one of the tunes. Shawnthies, Randy and Chris rehearsing a song before a take. My new Paiste Dark Energy cymbals, these things sound amazing! Laying down some percussion tracks for the project. With Stacy Carson, Chris Sidwell (seated), Tony Campodonico, Jean Frye Sidwell, Andy Waterman and Riner Scivally at Jeans' session of "I'll Be Seeing You" (Nov. 2003). Stacy, Andy and Chris at the control booth. Guitarist Riner Scivally. Jean giving Riner some suggestions. Tony Campodonico and Jean. Tony running through some changes before a take. Behind the drums during Jean's session. My DW drums with the 18" kick drum used at the session. This is Ray Brown Jr., son of legendary jazz bassist Ray Brown. I recently played drums on his album. (Sept. 2004) Guitarist Freddie Ramos was on the session. Bass player, composer and producer Jose Marino called me for the session with Ray. We recorded the tracks at Yutaka's studio. He is an amazing artist himself; a wonderful keyboard player, composer, singer, producer and engineer. I have toured with him playing with Sergio when we went to the Philppines and Malaysia. Malcolm Anderson, Dave Barber, Jeremy Kay, producer David Darling and me taking a break from a session with Jeremy for his album Idol American. Hussain, Robert Kyle and Sanjay Divicha at a session for MUZAK. Hussain, Sanjay, Bill, me and Rob after the MUZAK session. With Hussain and keyboardist Steve Weingart goofing around. Steve and his wife Renee.
