MURUMBA
is a world-percussion ensemble that creates new music from ancient
traditions. Using a variety of ethnic drums, marimba, vibes, steel pans
and voices, MURUMBA takes world-beat to a higher level!
Reviews
"MURUMBA
blends music from Africa, Brasil and Latin America into an exciting new
sound." - Sergio Mendes
"As
the title suggests, the musicians pay tribute to their musical origins,
tapping into rhythmic cultures from west Africa, Brasil and Cuba. The
percussion parts are cleanly, heatedly articulated, contributing to a
tight rumbling energy." - Josef Woodard (LA Times).
"A
must-hear! With so many great grooves, ORIGINS is like an education in
World Music." - Gregg Bissonette (World Famous Drummer).
"Great
players and great music. There is just one problem, I'm not in the
Band!" - Emil Richards (Percussion Innovator).
The
album features folkloric and original songs influenced by the music of
Africa, Brasil and Cuba, combined with elements of Jazz, New Age and
R&B. Origins is a musical adventure, full of soul and spirit.
