Camilla’s
seductive voice combined with her bewitching performance style is
irresistibly enchanting. Her hard-swinging interpretations, mixed with
her pure sultry jazz sound are reminiscent of the torch singers of the
40’s and 50’s. Her contagious spirit attracts both the avid jazz
aficionado and the younger, “hipper” audiences that will help
transport this classic style of jazz into the 21st century.
Swing’n’Sassy,
Camilla’s debut release, is a marvelous blend of classic songs that are
performed with soul and passion. “When I choose a song to sing, it has to
evoke in me a reaction. It can be an emotional reaction based on
anything from a lyric, to the way the melody makes me feel. With regard
to song selection, she describes the process this way, “For me, the
real acid test of the songs came from musicians. If a musician did not
know a song very well, we considered that a coup! They play songs over
and over again to the point where they tire of them. There is a joke
that asks ‘how many female singers does it take to sing My Funny
Valentine? Apparently all of them!’ I was looking for great old songs,
that had wonderful hum able melodies, but that would not be on every
album in the jazz section at the record store. I wanted to bring some of
the great old songs, as my grandmother would have said, ‘out of the
mothballs’.”
Swing-n-Sassy features some of the country’s finest jazz musicians
that collectively have recorded and/or performed with such legendary
artists as:
Frank
Sinatra, Quincy
Jones,
Sergio
Mendes,
Jack
Jones, Rosemary
Clooney, Nelson
Riddle, Doc
Severinsen,
Toni Tennille,
Paul Anka,
Debbie
Reynolds, Michael
Feinstein,
Stan Kenton
and Harry
James to
name just a few. “I am incredibly fortunate to have had the perfect
combination of fantastic musicians and incredible songs. It was pure
joy!” Just one listen and you will agree that Camilla’s
Swing’n’Sassy is pure joy.

Reviews:
Upon my first playing of Camilla’s
CD, Swing’n’Sassy,
two words immediately came to mind—Wow!
And Sensational!
In all my years on the air such a reaction on my part was seldom the
case, so I was pleasantly surprised. This prompted my playing
Camilla’s CD at least 50 times (no exaggeration) and the same
words—Wow and Sensational became conclusive in my mind!
Indeed, she is one tremendous talent! She will seduce and delight
your ears with her superb phrasing and her marked variations,
running from ballads to up–tunes and even the blues with ease and
great confidence. Here and there you’ll hear shades of Peggy Lee,
a hint of Rosie C., even Lady Day but make no mistake, this is all
Camilla; jaunty, sultry, chic, sophisticated, at times earthy,
bewitching, even infectious. You will sense all these attributes and
then some because in total, Camilla loves to sing. She’s super,
she’s really great.... and oh yes, and
she’s
sexy, very sexy!
You’ll hear that too! So, listen nice people, a truly marvelous
experience awaits you inside.

“Hard–swinging and reflective, Camilla makes lyrics
develop as naturally as conversation. This saucy vocalist makes a
striking impression.”
—Bill Kohlhaase, LA Times
“Camilla is a particular delight!”
